Williams crowned Radical Cup Platinum champ while Thompson ends Nicol’s winning streak
The 2025 Radical Cup North America champions were crowned in Connecticut after the final round at Lime Rock Park. Wayne Williams clinched the Platinum title from Louis Schriber, while Pro 1500 champion Raiden Nicol’s run of 15 wins was ended by former British Touring Car driver Bobby Thompson. Canada’s Brady Clapham was crowned Pro 1340 champion while fellow countryman Robert Burgess took a clean sweep in the 1340 weekend action, and Jonathan Scarallo scored two Gold class wins with Jack Yang celebrating his Gold class title and another trip to the top step of the podium.
Originally slated to use the classic configurations, USAC officials added the uphill chicane after practice one due to speed seen from the Radical Cup field. Drivers had an extended practice two to adjust to the new layout before qualifying and the final three races of the season.
Qualifying: Burgess, Williams, Scarallo and Thompson Lead the Way Qualifying set the tone for the weekend, with Wayne Williams (ONE Motorsports) securing pole position in Platinum, narrowly edging Louis Schriber (JBR) by less than a tenth of a second. With Schriber having to score three race wins and four of the six bonus points on offer to overcome Williams, it was a crucial blow to his chances.
In Pro 1500, Bobby Thompson (Valour Racing) impressed in his series debut. With a 52.102-second lap, the British Racing Drivers’ Club member was just 0.084 faster than series champion Raiden Nicol (PRIMAL Racing). Cameron Racing’s Jonas Axboe also impressed– the Dane was third quickest, having switched to brand new SR3 XXR machinery for the final round– as did Group-A Racing’s Jonathan Scarallo, who was fourth quickest in his first Radical Cup qualifying session.
Robert Burgess (Radical Canada East) dominated Pro 1340 qualifying, setting a benchmark 55.065-second lap — more than two seconds clear of the next closest competitor.
Race 1: Williams, Thompson, and Burgess draw first blood
Friday’s opening race commenced with a crash as Jack Yang found the grass while avoiding the pack as it compressed into the uphill chicane for the first time. The restart saw another concertina and more mayhem, with Louis Schriber suffering a broken exhaust. It proved to be a pivotal moment, with the JBR driver unable to match the pace of Wayne Williams, who drove a faultless race to win in the Platinum class.
However, with the SR3 1500s touring the Berkshire bullring the quickest, the outright win went to Bobby Thompson. It was a commanding win for the Valour Racing driver, who finished ahead of Jonas Axboe and Spencer Schmidt (Graham Rahal Performance), and the contrast of the crash for Yang and the podium for Schmidt put the latter back in contention for runner-up in the Pro 1500 championship. Nicol, who had followed Thompson for most of the race, had a late race charge which resulted in an altercation while attempting to lap Racing with Autism’s Austin Riley. With damage, he entered the pit lane with two laps to go, ending his chances of taking all 18 race wins. This assisted Vaughn Glace (Proper Performance) and
Jonathan Scarallo to drive into the top-five, with the latter also earning the Gold class win. Gold class driver Mike Anzaldi earned the Sunoco Hard Charger of the Race.
Robert Burgess cruised to victory in Pro 1340, finishing well clear of Kenny Naill (Graham Rahal Performance) and rookie Dermot Ennis (Ennis Racing).

Race 2: Williams doubles up as Thompson edges Nicol
Saturday morning brought cool conditions and an even cooler Wayne Williams, who cruised to victory to secure the Platinum championship, while his main title rival Schriber remained sidelined. Dale Dillon returned to the grid and picked up second place.
The Pro 1500 pack produced another great race, and the fight for the outright win. Thompson scored his second win in as many races, dominating the forty-minute on track session with Nicol crossing the stripe in second, rebounding from his difficult race one the day prior. Crucially, Nicol had also claimed the fastest lap, meaning he would start the final race of the season from the pole. Axboe found his way to the podium for the second consecutive race. Finishing third, Spencer Schmidt moved ahead of Jack Yang for runner-up in the Pro 1500 points battle, while Jonathan Scarallo rounded out the top-five and took the Gold class victory. Ryan Persing was named the Sunoco Hard Charger of the Race.
In Pro 1340, it was once again Robert Burgess who set the pace, completing a perfect double by defeating Dermot Ennis and Kenny Naill.
Race 3: Dillon breaks through, Nicol finishes season on Top
The season finale delivered a thrilling Saturday afternoon storyline involving all three classes.
Dale Dillon (Graham Rahal Performance) broke through to earn his first Radical Cup North America win, driving a composed race to beat champion-elect Wayne Williams after the 35-lap affair was complete. It was the first time an SR10 with a Megaline hand-clutch meeting the FIA disability guidelines had taken victory in the series.
Raiden Nicol restamped his authority on the Pro 1500 class, adding a 16th victory and another fastest lap to his dominant rookie season. Leading start to finish, he ended ahead of Bobby Thompson and Cameron Racing’s Valen Venkatesh, whose pace and perfect pitstop impressed. Jack Yang crossed the line fourth on track, earning the Gold class victory and the Sunoco Hard Charger but narrowly missing out on second in the championship. Vaughn Glace completed the weekend with a top-five, and Ryan Persing (Cameron Racing) was sixth.
Pro 1340 wrapped up with reigning Radical Pro 1340 World Champion Robert Burgess completing the weekend sweep — three wins from three races — in a perfect leadup to defending his World title at Virginia International Raceway, November 6-9. Dermot Ennis again finished runner-up, with Kenny Naill completing the podium.
Season closes on a high note
As the checkered flag fell on the final Radical Cup North America race of 2025, competitors reflected on a season of fierce battles, breakthrough performances, and the continued growth of the championship. The Night of Champions banquet at Spring Hill Vineyards celebrated this year’s champions and standout achievements, setting the tone for an even bigger 2026 season ahead.
