Multiple champions head to VIR for Radical World Finals
Many of the 14 Radical Cup championships from around the world concluded their 2025 seasons in recent weeks, but teams and competitors will be back in action this weekend with the highly anticipated Radical World Finals, hosted at the iconic Virginia International Raceway (VIR). As part of the Veterans Race of Remembrance, the event brings together top Radical racers from around the globe for four days of high-speed competition and celebration, November 6–9.
The 2025 edition of the event returns to the USA for the first time since the inaugural Radical World Finals in Las Vegas back in 2022, with the event traveling on to Portimao in Europe and Yas Marina in the UAE. Virginia International Raceway is the perfect stage for yet another chapter in Radical World Finals history to be written. A total of 29 drivers are set to compete across four categories — Pro 1340, Pro 1500, Gold 1500, and Platinum — each boasting a deep lineup of talent representing multiple nations.
In Pro 1340, eight competitors will vie for top honors, including 2024 Pro 1340 World Champion Robert Burgess of Radical Canada East, who will be defending his title against the recently crowned Radical Cup North America Pro 1340 Champion, Brady Clapham, supported by Crown Racing with Radical Arizona. Also representing the Radical Cup Challenge Arizona will be Chris McMurry and the father-son duo of Seth and Jace Bacon. Team Stradale enters Mike D’Ambrose, Kenny Naill joins Graham Rahal Performance and Vaughn Glace will be representing Proper Performance.
The Pro 1500 category brings international depth, with Mexican Ian Aguilera of JBR with Radical Virginia returning as reigning World Champion following his victory in Yas Marina last year. Looking to claim the title will be a seven-car field that includes the Cameron Racing trio of Arul and Valen Venkatesh, and Jonas Axboe representing Denmark. Dutch contender Max van der Snel tasted success this year in the Radical Cup UK and will look to add to his trophy cabinet with Valour Racing. Another one to watch will be the dominant Radical Cup North America champion Raiden Nicol who will look to add to his winning ways, and Luke Kendall will join him in the Primal Racing program.
In the new Gold class for SR3 1500 drivers aged over 30, the five-driver lineup includes the UK’s Andy Lowe, fresh from a class victory in the Gulf Radical Cup last weekend, Spring Mountain’s Radical Cup Challenge Nevada champion Brandon Rambo, Valour Racing’s Jack Yang, Primal Racing’s Chris Huhn, and Proper Performance’s Ryan Saari. Jack Yang was recently crowned the Gold Champion in Radical Cup North America and is one of only two competitors who have competed in every Radical World Finals event since the inaugural Las Vegas event in 2022.
The turbocharged Platinum class boasts ten entries, including the top three from the Radical Cup North America 2025 season – champion Wayne Williams (One Motorsports), Louis Schriber (JBR with Radical Virginia) and Steve Jenks (Group-A Racing). Looking to improve on his previous third place World Finals finishes from Las Vegas, Portimao and Yas Marina, Gregg Gorski returns with local VIR-based team JBR,
alongside team owner and former Radical European champion, Jim Booth. Adding more competition to the Platinum class will be Jason Greenwood of Group-A Racing, James Long of Primal Racing and Dale Dillon of Graham Rahal Performance, ensuring a fierce battle to close out the season.
Beyond the on-track intensity, the World Finals carry special significance this year as part of the Veterans Race of Remembrance, an event honoring service members through competition and camaraderie. The weekend will include not only elite-level racing but also moments of reflection and recognition for those who have served.
“The Radical World Finals have always represented the best of what our sport stands for — competition, community, and international connection,” said Tom Drewer, Radical Motorsport Director for The Americas. “Given the number of current and former Radical champions participating, this is arguably the most competitive Radical World Finals yet.”
Drivers will have ample testing before the classes will be split for short qualifying sessions. The fastest times will set the grid for Heat Race 1. For the start of Heat Race 2, the top six fastest qualifying drivers will be inverted. The fastest lap times in Heat Race 2 will set the grid for Heat Race 3, which will feature a mandatory pit stop. Points from the heats will set the grid for the winner takes all final - a 40 minute sprint race to crown four World Champions.
