WTR Lamborghini drivers set to return
With its drivers for the two-car Cadillac GTP program already confirmed, today Wayne Taylor Racing has announced that it has retained Danny Formal, Trent Hindman and Graham Doyle as its drivers for the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD effort.
Formal and Hindman remain as the full-season drivers of the No. 45 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, with Doyle returning for the five-race Michelin Endurance Cup.
WTR’s No. 45 Lamborghini will appear at next week's IMSA Sanctioned Test at Daytona International Speedway; its fourth driver for the Rolex 24 At Daytona will be announced at a later date.
2025 was an up-and-down season for the silver and black No. 45 Lamborghini, but Formal and Hindman did take the team's first GTD victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in July, thanks to an aggressive pit strategy. Over the last two seasons, the WTR Lamborghini has also taken a pole position and eight top-10 finishes.
“I’m looking forward to another year with the Lamborghini GTD program,” said team owner and namesake Wayne Taylor. “2025 was our first year running a full season, and we accomplished a lot: one win, eight top-10 finishes, and came close twice to a podium finish. Danny Formal and Trent Hindman will be back with Graham Doyle supporting them in the endurance races. It has been a positive program for DEX, Lamborghini, and WTR as we grow the race program. I am excited to get back on track.”
“2025 was a year of many lessons learned, some harder than others, but all very valuable experiences,” said Hindman. “Sometimes in racing, difficult moments are needed to lay the groundwork for future success. We’ve paid our dues. It’s time to take advantage and apply our experience and lessons learned over the last ten months to keep moving forward. The team victory at CTMP was really a major highlight of the year and showed the potential of what this team is capable of when items that are out of our control fall our way. Our runs at Daytona and Indianapolis are also standout moments in my mind when thinking about what we can deliver on the racetrack.”
“It is our third full season under the same banner with the same race car and the improvements the team made in 2025 were insane, said Formal, who is attempting to win the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Pro championship this weekend in the Misano World Final. “The team just legitimately stepped up in every single way - with our pit stops, with our strategies, with our setups, with absolutely everything.
“I'm so thankful and grateful to be back with this team, with the same driver line-up. With the addition of Trent Hindman, we all had a great connection right away in 2025 and having the same driver line-up in 2026 is vital. I think we will have a different approach to this race car and a different approach to the season, with it being the last season of the Lamborghini Huracán.”
Lamborghini expects its GTD customer team to continue to race the Huracán GT3 EVO2 throughout 2026, while Pfaff Motorsports campaigns the new Temerario GT3 in GTD PRO starting at Sebring.
