Lamborghini confirms Grosjean’s departure

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has announced the departure of Romain Grosjean after three years as a factory driver.

Grosjean joined Lamborghini after 10 seasons in Formula 1 and while running in the NTT IndyCar Series, to assist in the development of the SC63 LMDh prototype throughout 2023 and into '24. The Franco-Swiss driver finished seventh in the SC63’s worldwide debut at the 2024 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

His best IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship finish in the SC63 came last month at the season-ending Petit Le Mans, where Grosjean finished fourth in the SC63’s final race before Lamborghini put the project on a minimum one-year hiatus. He also finished 13th overall in the SC63’s only start at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2024.

“From his first laps in Almería in 2023, when he officially drove the Lamborghini SC63 for the first time, to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024, the journey has been filled with emotions and milestones," the manufacturer said in a statement. "It continued in the 2025 IMSA season, culminating at Road Atlanta, where the team earned a well-deserved fourth place – a testament to their resilience, growth, and determination.

“But now it’s time to say goodbye... Thank you, Romain, for the passion, talent, and commitment you brought to the track with us. See you on the asphalt!”

The announcement is not much of a surprise: Grosjean is still hopeful of making an IndyCar return in 2026, and in September, he told RACER that he would prefer to continue his sports car racing career in prototypes rather than remain with Lamborghini as a GT3 driver.
