38 cars set for IMSA testing at Daytona

IMSA has published the provisional entry list for next week's Sanctioned Test at Daytona International Speedway, which will see 38 cars on track across three days from Nov. 14–16.

All 11 GTP entries will be present, including the two redesigned BMW M Hybrid V8s run by BMW M Team WRT, as the Belgian-based team takes to the track for its first official IMSA test session. All six drivers listed in the No. 24 and No. 25 BMWs are holdovers from last year's combined BMW prototype efforts in IMSA and WEC: Robin Frijns, René Rast, Kevin Magnussen, Dries Vanthoor, Marco Wittmann, and Philipp Eng.

Updated versions of the Cadillac V-Series.R and Acura ARX-06 are also expected to run for the first time. Cadillac Whelen and Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing will run the V-Series.R, while Acura Meyer Shank Racing will run the updated ARX-06. Connor Zilisch and Colton Herta's first tests in the V-Series.R headline the list of notable names driving for Cadillac, while AJ Allmendinger will get his first chance to drive the No. 60 Acura MSR ARX-06.

Porsche Penske Motorsport’s two 963s will be driven by PPM regulars Matt Campbell, Felipe Nasr, and Julien Andlauer – as well as Penske IndyCar drivers Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin. Campbell is also slated to test the No. 85 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche with Tijmen van der Helm, Indy NXT driver Bryce Aron, and another driver to be named later.

Only Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis are slated to drive the No. 23 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie.

Ten ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2s will go testing as well – every announced LMP2 entry for 2026, except for Era Motorsport and Team Tonis.

As announced by the team shortly after Petit Le Mans, Inter Europol Competition retains its 2025 line-up of Jeremy Clarke, Tom Dillmann and Bijoy Garg who will test the No. 43 car at Daytona.

Testing the new-look No. 52 Bryan Herta Autosport with PR1/Mathiasen car are Bronze drivers Ben Keating and Misha Goikhberg, Silver driver Parker Thompson, and Gold driver Tristan Vautier.

United Autosports USA has former TDS Racing drivers Mikkel Jensen and Hunter McElrea driving its No. 2 car with Philip Fayer. The No. 22 car will have a familiar crew in testing that includes Paul di Resta and Rasmus Lindh – as well as Gregoire Saucy, of United’s LMGT3 effort in WEC.

The Sanctioned Test at Daytona will also be the first on-track test for the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 and the first runs for the newest evolutions of the Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO, Ford Mustang GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Pfaff Motorsports will run the Temerario GT3 for the first time in North America ahead of its planned GTD PRO debut at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The No. 9 Pfaff Temerario, driven by Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli, will share the track with the GTD-class No. 45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.

Running the 296 GT3 EVO will be AF Corse USA, which plans to run the 2026 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with the No. 21 Ferrari driven by Simon Mann and Tomasso Mosca.

The newest 992.2 version of the Porsche GT3 R is expected to be at Daytona. Porsche will have three GT teams in attendance – Manthey, who will run the new 992.2 GT3 R, as well as GTD customers Wright Motorsports and RS1.

It'll be Manthey's No. 911 GTD PRO Porsche participating, but with Ryan Hardwick, who'll form part of the line-up in the No. 912 GTD Porsche, testing the No. 911 car alongside Thomas Preining. Fellow series newcomer RS1 will have Eric Zitza and Jan Heylen in its No. 28 (was No. 83) Porsche.

Ford Multimatic Motorsports is set to run the new Ford Mustang GT3 Evo, with two cars, while Myers Riley Motorsports has its No. 16 Ford testing for the first time.

As the racing world eagerly awaits the launch of Toyota Motor Corporation's next-generation GT3 car, Vasser Sullivan Racing is set to return with its two Lexus RC F GT3s across GTD PRO and GTD. Notably, Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat are back together testing the No. 14 Lexus, and in the GTD No. 12 car, Benjamin Pedersen and Esteban Masson will accompany Aaron Telitz and Frankie Montecalvo.

Other notable GT entries include Paul Miller Racing, which looks set to bring the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO to Daytona after several weeks of speculation regarding the team's plans for 2026. This year's PMR drivers Neil Verhagen, Max Hesse, Dan Harper, and Connor De Phillippi will test the No. 1 BMW next week.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing's McLaren (720S) GT3 EVO will be in action after today's announcement of the multi-year partnership between RLL and McLaren. As of yet, no drivers have been announced.

Winward Racing's second Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, which is set to race at Daytona and Sebring in the GTD PRO category with the No. 48. For the test, Scott Noble and Jason Hart will be joined by Mercedes-AMG Performance Drivers Maxime Martin and Luca Stolz

Magnus Racing will also be at the Sanctioned Test with its No. 44 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo with the satirical "Virtual Energy" sponsorship, and a driver line-up featuring John Potter and Spencer Pumpelly.
